It is the beginning of a new school year for some and just another month for the rest but a new month always brings an opportunity for a new start for everyone. If you have had some activities or projects getting pushed to the back burner due to summer vacations and unexpected events in your life then use the start of September as a fresh beginning.
Students and professionals alike can take advantage of getting a new routine and or new priorities up and running. Where do you begin?
First, write down all of your daily, weekly and monthly obligations. List all the mundane chores you would like to have done as well. Now add in some activities for regeneration.
Pull out a monthly calendar and write in your reoccurring events for the week/month that are givens such as work, school, car pooling kids, volunteering, etc.
Add in one chore a day that you think you can accomplish and if you have any crazy days with no time, double up an easy chore with a more time consuming chore on a less time constrained day. Don’t forget the art of delegating some of these to other family members if at all possible.
Where do you see time left for you to finally get around to reading that book, joining the gym, learning how to garden? Now plug that activity into your calendar as a reoccurring event so it becomes a given time you are allowing for yourself.
Putting everything you would like to accomplish in your day onto a calendar makes it more likely for it to actually happen. It also allows you to see where you have time to plug in irregular events such as Dr. Appointments, car repair appoints and the like without sacrificing the you time because that will already be a scheduled event that you will work around.
I know I would like to get my YOGA back into my routine, what would you like to add into your schedule for that YOU time? Share below what you will do to regenerate.
Happy September!
